Luke Dixon

I managed to find Luke Dixon at three different websites and social networks (flickr, tumblr, and on his own site) and on lots of blog posts, but not a single line of background information on the guy. I love his style though.

Laura Barnard on HP laptops wallpapers

I've been a big fan of Laura Barnard's quirkly drawn cityscapes for quite some time, so it was great to learn she had been commisioned by HP to design a series of desktop wallpapers for their new line of laptops. How awesome would it be to start your brand new laptop for the first time and see something like this? Way to go, Laura!

The best part is that, as well as having these as their new standard wallpapers, HP has also made them available to download for free here. If only I had a facebook account...

Johnnie Cluney

Johnnie Cluney is the main illustrator for the music website Daytrotter. According to this bio, "his design adventures began in his early grade school years with ninja turtle drawings, and bubble letters. since then johnnie has gone on to design countless flyers, record covers, t shirts and more".

I couldn't find any more of his work online, but there's plenty to see at Daytrotter, with almost six years worth of reocrding sessions and a band portrait to go with each one of them.

Robot of the month club

Seattle based illustrator Christine Marie Larsen has a very nice little project going on: The Robot of the Month club - an annual subscription service that gets you a new robot print delivered to your door every month. She's been doing it for over two years now and has a great archieve of the paintings on her website, featuring robots often in very unexepected situations.

Superheroed!

As if the idea of a superhero themed club night wasn't enough fun by itself, it also has the most amazing posters: superhero remixes of 80s record covers designed and drawn by Cliff Chiang. It makes me kind of jealous of all those lucky new yorkers.

I'm not sure whether all of these were drawn for the party, but Chiang seems to be having fun doing them and says he's got a few more ideas for other album covers. Awesome!

Avatar by Patrick Brown

This is the first bit of Avatar-inspired awesomeness I came across since the film came out. I wonder if it's going to become one of those timeless classics whose characters hundreds of people still draw twenty years later...

Angelique Houtkamp

Angelique Houtkamp has done a bit of everything, she started her artistic career as a tattooist, has worked as a dressmaker, make-up artist and bartender, ran her own jewellery company, played in bands, designed shoes, handbags and even wallpaper. But it's her paintings that make it for me, her paintings are heavily inspired by traditional old school tattoo imagery, but still full of originality and easily recognizable as her own.

The Everyday

The Everyday is Adam Cadwell's online comic about.. err.. the everday. It hasn't been updated much lately (Cadwell's a busy man, working as a freelance storyboard artist and visualiser) but his site has 3 years worth of archieves of the strip and it's a lot of fun to go thru them. They are also available in paper form, printed in 3 collections from the shop in his website.  Fingers crossed there will be more coming soon!
